Hello,
I have just joined to group so apologies if this is in the wrong section.
What I would like to do is create an image or backup from a clean build + all my apps and latest MS updates (1 for the laptop and 1 for the tower). Then if anything happens I can quickly and easily revert back to that image. I have a capped download capacity from a satellite broadband provider so having to download all the software and updates every time I rebuild a system is not good.
I like installing and trying out different apps so after a while it would be nice to go back to a "clean system" We also get very bad weather /lightning strikes that have, in the past, fried or corrupted the hard drive. Being able to go back to the "clean image" would be great. All my data is backed up separately so not a concern. I know there used to be software that would let you create a master image and them push it out to multiple workstations but can't remember what it was. Is there anything like that out there now? or does anyone know of a proper disaster recovery backup application.
Both my laptop and desktop have a "reset to factory" setting option. I want to take the restore image, add my apps and save as a new recovery image if that's possible.
Tried Acronis and didn't work. Moved to ****** (paid version) created my image but when I needed it, it doesn't work as advertised. Long and complex recovery process. Will be easier to rebuild my clean image from scratch!
Any suggestions much appreciated.
