Disk partition & OS installation

Hi ppl, need some help. So here goes.

I've just bought a dell 6000 laptop with XP home edition already installed.
However, I can't make it read some of the (format rm. etc.) videos files where it can be viewed with my desktop which btw uses a Chinese windows XP pro. So I figured that could be the problem. And when I've done that those videos finally worked. However, now having a dual OS system, my XP home stopped working, which is understable since the two uses a different language version. So this is when all the problem arises.

For some reason, the laptop came on a hard disk that hasn't been partitioned. And since I'm not too familiar with reinstalling the OS, normally I would just format it like I usually do with my desktop. So without the luxury of it, I just don't know how to get rid of my dual system and make it into one desired Chinese XP pro. I tried but it just made the situation worse, now I have like a quadriple system after tried on all the options the CD installation procedure gave me.

So can anyone give me a good head start to correct this problem?

oh yeah, and one more thing,
Can anyone teach me directly or suggest a site where it teaches you how to partition the hard disk from scratch or from situations such as mine.

rebooot it with the cd.

-- im assuming your chinese xp os is still new and wont mind deleting it.

just go through the process of formatting it as usual. you will get to the screen where it tells you to choose a partition/drive to install in.

there should be two, maybe three of them. delete the partitions so it will just contain one drive. once you have done that. format that drive and install the chinese os on it over again.

here is an example. scroll down to the second step 5 and look at the screen.

it is where you should delete the extra ones and format it in the next step.
