Disk Partitions

I bought a new hard drive and tried to install windows xp onto it.
however I accidentally removed the partition on my existing hard drive (but did not reformat it) and consequently lost all the data on my original drive.

can I get this data back or is it lost for good?

you should be able to retrieve it, i think norton make a program for it.

You can recover some/all of it yourself however dont get your hopes up If its really important, get pros to do it (for money)

The best program I have found for this (free) is PC Inspector File Recovery... this will recreate the drive structure... as long as you haven't overwritten the things on that drive already.... just make sure to READ the instructions (takes you like 5 seconds)... and you'll save a lot of time and money....

Recover my files is a great program I formatted my hardrive 3 times and each time was swapped between FAT32 and NTFS but it still found my stuff
