i turned on my computer and it read "disk read error occurred". turned it off and same thing happened. Ran a diagnostics test and it said "DST- short status test failed. Error code 1000-0142, 1000-0146." msg:Unit 2: DST Log contains previous errors". ran a different test and it said to contact Dell with error code 0F00:0244. Msg Block 189224, uncorrected data error or media is write protected". what should i do?

Mark down the error messages seen and try to go through the Dellmare that many complain about in order to get ahold of their tech support. They simply look up the error messages by number on a hardware/software chart.
It may be something as simple as the basic boot information to bad sectors now being seen on the hard drive itself. Their support pages may offer a little help with the description of what the error messages mean.
