Hi guys, i bought a new agp radeon card (brand new) and when i put it in my motherboard (to replace my older card) my pc would not boot. the hdd spins but not much. the pc just shut off. when i put my old card back, it is fine.

i tried to put the card in another computer ( with lower psu watts) and it work!, so what could the problem be, as we have knocked of the possibility of it being defective.

Which cards are they? And does the motherboard support AGP fully? The wattage of the power supply should matter much, only if it's too low. The current may be too low though. Which psu do you have and what cards are you using?

i have a normal atx psu at 350W. my mobo is Epox EP-8HdA5, and my video card is HIS Radeon X1650 Pro. I don't think it is teh psu, because i tried in an older pc and that pc had only 250W. I tried bios settings (when using my old video card) but nothing seems to work?!?

Okay... so both your old and new cards are AGP? What cables are you using to hook them up to your monitor? And what is your motherboard like? It does support AGP and whichever cables? And by not boot, does that mean nothing turns on, or just nothing shows up on the screen?

yes the mobo supports it, both my cards are agp, and the cables are just vga ones. there isn't any mobo failure, i have a error screen on the mobo, it says ff, which is normal. the pc doesn't turn on
