display problem

I'm really good at wrecking my comp, so here's what i did, and don't know how to fix :( . I was installing some hardware (which i forgot what it was). The comp said to restart, and I did, and the display just turned into 16-bit display. I tried to change it in the display properties, but there were only two options: 2-bit and 16-bit. And now I'm stuck with low color quality. Help!!

you need to go to Control Panel-> System-> Hardware -> Device Manager
Then go to 'Display Adaptors'
And double click the card you are using. Write down its information for example
ATI Radeon 9800 Pro
Then look up the manufacture of it on google and download their latest drivers from their website. Install them and that should fix your problem. Post back if you are having trouble finding the drivers with the info you found out about your card and maybe we can link you.

This is what it said in the display adapter properties:

device type: display adapters
maufacturer: (standard display types)
hardware version: not available

And I'm not sure if 'standard display types' is the manufacturer... so I still need help.

Ok, you deleted your video drivers. I am going to need to know what kind of video card you have so I can link you to the right drivers. If you can find out your specs that would be good, or if it is a dell or gateway just tell me the model # or something.

is it a custom build? or did you buy it from gateway or dell or some company? Just post the model number of the computer if that is the case.
