Display Resolution for PC Games??

Hello, I'm new here... I have a question for anyone who can help out...

I'm buying either a 32'' or 37'' LG, LCD TV soon and I plan on using it as my tv/computer monitor. I know 37'' is big for a monitor but that's what leads to my question...

Is there a way to find out a game's max resolution before you buy it? on their website or something? I've looked at some games like Rise of Nations and World of Warcraft but I couldn't find anything that relates to the resolution.. Or maybe I didn't look at it right?

I don't think most games really have a max resolution. Most will run at just about whatever you want them to (within a few given restrictions) You're main concern for higher res gaming might be lower quality/resolution textures. But even so, why not just got a 1080p screen and call it a day? :P

Oh I see.. so its not the game, its the video card? My only concern was that the game will completely fill the TV screen and I won't have to play in windowed mode.

Can you link to the TVs? What are their resolutions? There is a (fairly good?) chance that they're both 1080p and thus the same resolution.
Just about all modern games can be played at 1080p, I wouldnt worry about it (as long as your grpahics card is up to the task).

I have a game that was made before XP that plays in 1080p.

What gpu do you have? Most people don't have a gpu that can play WOW at 1080p.

Also, if you get the smaller 32" I'd get a 720p, since it will be easier on your graphics card to play games and you won't see a difference.

Games will not tell you max resolution but if you google the game forums most the time you will see a HUGE rant if they don't support the common resolutions for gamers.

Beware that 32'' doesn't immediately mean 1080....mine runs below it but you can't argue free. Its 720p I believe and the only downside is I get black bars on certain things about a 1 inch wide on my TV top and bottom.

A 7600GT easily maxes WoW at that resolution. Hell it even maxed my old mans WoW @ 1680x1050.
Reason I laugh at anyone that buys a GTX 295 to max WoW.

1080p and 720 are the same aspect ratio. The problem is for some reason many blurays were made in a different aspect ratio than any tv is in (pretty much as if the vhs were always made widescreen when everyone had 4:3 tvs).

Also, I thought the new expansion packs made it a little more difficult to play than that. At any rate, there are some people coming on here with gpus that couldnt handle it at 1080p.
