Hey guys I was putting my computer in standby today when all of the sudden I got an error message saying something along the lines of my graphics processing unit stopped working or something like that. as the message appeared, my resolution went back to the lowest settings along with the color settings, Im assuming my GPU was on its last limb. Is there anything I can do to fix it? because now when I turn my computer on I get nothing from my monitors. Like I said im assuming he GPU just died on me. but im not sure. I have a Geforce 9800 GT 512MB. if that helps any. its made by "Sparkle".

Also if there is no way to fix it, could anybody give me any suggestions as to an upgrade? I know technology is evolving every minute. so whats the latest bang for your buck? that would be considered an upgrade from the 9800GT.

thank you guys and sorry for typing a book xD

The 5770 is a good card for the price, people will disagree though. you will need 1x 6 pin pci-e connector.

what are the rest of your specs?

As for the 9800 GT, you could try the video-card cooking method. don't know much about it (yet), but you should ask some of the experienced people in the forum about it. It involves sticking your card in an oven and cooking it for long enough to re-solder and loose connections.
