Dissertation ideas based on Software Defined Networking

Hi All,

I am in my final year of university and have to come up with my dissertation/final year project idea very soon.

I am studying towards BSc (Hons) in Computer Networks.

I would like to base my project/dissertation around Software Defined Networks however I am having a hard time coming up with an exact idea and subsequent title.

The main problem is I have to produce some sort of artifact, now this could be a report (preferably not), network design etc and I just cannot nail down an solid idea. The subject area seems quite broad.

My first idea was to compare the differences between managing an SDN based network to a traditional network design and how the network management can be improved with SDN however i'm not 100% sure what the main artifact I could produce would then be.

If anyone has any idea that would be greatly appreciated!

So you're looking to do something along the lines of virtual networks, like what can be created in a VMware environment?

Hi Thanks for the reply,

That is kind of correct yes, Although thinking about it a virtual network with VMWare may be easier to produce/simulate than an SDN
