Distorted & missing Display Colors

When Started my system this morning, my display colors were distorted. Red and Green are not showing at all and other colors are not showing properly.

My monitor is an LG L1720B and my graphic card is NVIDIA. My system runs on W2K.

I have already reinstalled the graphic card driver which has made no effect.

Any ideas anyone, please?

When was the last time you used a can of air to blow the dust and dirt our of the case? Sometimes a card will get a little foggy as far as the contacts and needs to be reseated after a cleaning. If it's a card that's a few years old it may be ready to go doa on you. These are a few things to look over.

Thank you sir - that reminded me of checking the vga plug and it was lose - it's back to normal now - many thanks again

A loose plug will do it. If you moved the case around at all that could explain that. One tip is to pressing the plug in firmly before tightening the retainers. That will make sure it doesn't get pulled out just enough to see this if you do have to move the case for some reason.

also, check to see if you have any stereo speakers or anything else with a magbet near it. i just recently had this problem, and i realized it was because i had moved my stero around

And you just happened to get them "too close" to the back of the case? If the shielding isn't worth a hoot on the vga cable and plug you would probably catch some rf there. The one speaker that would be most likely to see that type of problem would be the woofer more then the surrounding smaller speakers on a 5.1 or 7.1 setup. The woofer has the strongest magnet.

That's why cheapy plugs and crap speakers equal poor shielding to begin with. Plus "too close" usually requires having them against the back of the case. The back of a speaker would have to be right against it there in order to see the "pull" of it to be any type of real problem. That would have far more effect on audio then on video.
