Ditch laptop for remote desktop?

Hi guys, just looking for some advice before I take the plunge. I have a laptop where I do all my work and I recently bought a chromebook for uni. I was wondering if it would be a good idea to ditch my laptop and buy a mini pc then access that mini pc via my chromebook via remote desktop to use software such as visual studio, Photoshop etc. I know I could remote desktop my laptop but I dont really want to have it plugged in and turned on 24/7 and it shuts down by itself.

Do you think this is feasable? Can anyone offer any drawbacks or experiences? Cheers

Photoshop may not run too well on a Mini PC. It could work, but I would just use a dedicated desktop for Photoshop. Also, I believe Photoshop uses a lot of RAM.

A small form factor PC can be quite powerful these days. It would work fine if your network is suitably fast and reliable.
