DivX codecs don't work in Vista

Hi, I just installed the Vista RC2 Beta (clean install), and everything works fine, I reinstalled every program I used when I still had XP, and they al work fine.

But there are two problems. It seems like my DivX codecs aren't working Media Player 11. I can't play any .avi file.

I installed the K-Lite codec pack 2.77 Full (playback only). Wich worked fine in Windows XP. I used Sherlock to check if there were any broken codecs, but they were all fine.

The files do play fine in Power DVD 7, but the .srt subtitles don't work in Power DVD.

Does anyone have a solution for this?

Another problem that bothers me, is that I can't stream Media Player videos in Internet Explorer or Firefox.

Media Player 11 seems te be the problem, cause when I was still using Windows XP, I downloaded the Media Player 11 Beta, and I had the same problem. I couldn't Stream videos through my webbrowser.

Anybody knows what might be causing this problems?

WMP 11 is still in beta format. Plus you are running what IE 7 beta. Both were tried here with no great results on XP. RC1 was run for a short period where video and sound worked but not too much else. RC2 was never even burned to disk. I figured I would save one disk for a data dvd. That's with two hard drives installed on the system. XP is still intact here. I'll wait for the Vista 2nd edition or SP2 thank you.

I'm using the RC2 beta of Vista, and streaming doesn't work in Firefox, I haven't tested it in IE.

All other movie formats play fine by the way, only .avi files don't play. I can only hear the sound, but there's no video.

The problem there is that it is still a beta not a finished and full version of Windows where everything is geared to run. This is the first version of Windows to see beta versions released openly. The previous betas were only seen by software developers. At this time you will probably have to locate a different player or wait until the full version is out. Beta versions of anything are basically a stripped down version of the retail product.

WMP 11 Beta is pretty sweet but in the library you should be able to go to begining titles when you press a button. the one think that needs to be changed IMO

When WMP 11 which is still a beta was tried out here it was dumped very quickly. The upgrade from the default WMP 9 to WMP 10 has never seen one problem running anything.
