Divx xvid

Using uttorent I downloaded an xvid, I have the xvid codec and divx codec and when I try to play the file it says its not a valid avi
so I got divfix and all the other fix programs and they all say they dont reconize the avi even though the extension ends in avi

This is the second file in a week that has done this to me, is there something about xvid files im missing, I just install the codec and its done correct?

no do no fix them, it take a long time.
download vlc player and install it. it plays every thing.
then the best codecs that i know and use is : Ace mega codecs , free.

that media player plays everything natively, once i started using it i never went back

i've downloaded videos off the net before that ended up not even being videos, but rather other file formats with the extensions changed.
