would i be able to stream my desktop to the tv or can i just stream music and videos?
cant find a straight answer taht says no or yes or anyone trying it on google or youtube
 
Define 'stream'. If you're got an HDMA compatible graphics card you can simply hook up the TV to your PC and play movies etc on it. There are also things like "slingbox" es that can do something similar.
