Do 2 9600 gt's in SLI = to 1 9800 gtx or 9800 gx2 ?

Are they pretty much equal and if so is going 2 9600 gt in Sli on a 780i board the cost effective way of building a high performance gaming system?

performance on their own isnt a huge increase compared to 2 x 9600gt.

personally, get 2 8800gt 512mb.
or 2 9600gt if you cant afford 2 8800gt 512mb

on that note aswel, 780i is ddr3 ram. so thats gonna cost a bundle.

unless you really have money to throw into the computer, get a decent motherboard with ddr2 support. the ddr2 ram prices are so cheap right now. it would also give you more money to spent on a better cpu say an e8500 and a better graphics card. say an 8800gt sli

I thought the 780i was ddr2 and the 790i was the ddr3 one?

although the 780i looks cool and has native support for the 45nm quad cores, there really isnt anything else it offers over the 680i, imo

not that i know of, it usually depends on the limits of the other hardware. the 780i might have a higher multiplier tho, idk
