Sorry if I appear stupid hear but what is a wireless card or wireless USB adaptor exactly for?
If I already have a wireless modem router and my PC is directly connected to it via a physical cable, do I need to bother looking into getting either a wireless card or wireless USB adaptor if they are always next to each other?
I was originally thinking that other wireless appliances that I have (eg. mobile phone, Smart TV, media player etc.) would be able to talk directly to the PC via a wireless card or USB adaptor but surely these would all communicate via the router anyway.
Am I now right in thinking that the only purpose of a wireless card or UBS adaptor in a PC itself is to communicate with the network or gain access to the internet VIA the wireless modem router (or just wireless router) so unless I want to move the PC to a position where I can't physically connect to the router with a cable there is no point getting a wireless card etc.
