Do I have a Conroe or an Allendale?

I have a Pentium Dual-Core E2200. On the internet I have read that the CPU is also called Allendale, as it does if I try to buy one from newegg. But I just downloaded CPU-Z and it says Conroe. Which one is correct?

It is an Allendale. CPUz is reporting the name incorrectly.

Can I replace my CPU with anything as long as it say LGA 775? I know I have a LGA 775.

Exactly the same, but with less L2 cache.

Doesn't CPUz have a motherboard tab? It should give you the make/model.

Open your case and get the make/model, then google it.

sometimes it's hard to find, or see. You could simply download another system info app, like PCwizard, Everest or sandra. They might give you a more detailed answer.

odds are no, you cannot put a better processor into that motherboard.
