I dont go to bad/illegal/dirty sites, im using Windows Vista and it has also a firewall.
An antivirus would just slow down my system, since i dont have any super system(512 MB ram, 1,7 GHz)?
What do you think?

It doesn't matter whenever you do something bad or not you can get a virus anytime, anywhere so yea you need a an antivirus, even a free one could do the work

If you didn't boot up in safe mode, you will need a firewall and antivirus. Comodo Firewall is great and AVG is an excellent antivirus. Both are free and update automatically.

It's a must... without being secured you will start all over again with your headaches if you aren't careful to protect your computer. Just download AVG 7.5 - it's free if you don't do anything else! Visit http://free.grisoft.com/doc/1

I'd put it this way...

A firewall is REQUIRED, but anti-virus is slightly less important. If all you do is check email, and literally visit only 3-4 secure sites a day (yeah right), you wouldn't really need one, per-say. At least that's my opinion, I used to run fine without one for about two months. So it really depends on what you're doing on the internet.

im suprised you said that actualy....i would prefer to have a antivirus on my system than a firewall....i only run windows built in firewall here.

i think you only realy need a good firewall if you keep personal data on your pc...but i dont so......:)

well, the idea I have is that a firewall will keep the viruses from coming in the first place by blocking the connections and such. I'm not sure how much truth there is behind that, but either way, I'm running ZoneAlarm and Avast!, so I should have to worry.

id say its a good idea to have AVG or something. but personally, i haven't run virus protection in almost 2 years.

every week or so i run: "clear private data" through Firefox, same with IE 7. then i run disk cleanup and manually clear the TEMP folder. run Ad-aware then Defrag my HDs. reboot, look at msconfig for changes in startup/running processes. then call it done.

iv never had any virus problems. not saying i never will. but this works just fine for me. i actually tried AVG for a week or so but then i deleted it. it was a pretty nice program. it didn't use up a lot of resources.

i would always advise using a quality AV and FW on your system,

I use PANDA ANTIVIRUS(platinum) which comes with firewall, you just set it and forget it, very reliable and now it comes with 3 licience's for the platinum and 2 for the titanium one which does not come with firewall. it's one hell of a lot better than that poxy Norton that everyone keeps raving about(just because Norton says "no virus found" don't mean no virus's on your system.

i think you should get rid of vista lol memory hog, not but really you should get rid of the firewall that comes with vista, IF YOU CAN, and install zonealarm or Filseclab they are both great and pretty easy on the system.
