I've noticed a lot of "DIY" videos installing 2 dvd drives. Is it necessary to have two? Or if you have both DVD-R and DVD-RW on one drive would not need a drive sole for reading?
Basically the only reason to have 2 drives is to make it easier on you when you are copying a cd. That way it don't have to copied to the hard drive first and then back to a blank cd.
thats the only reason. Ya have to do two times. I have 4 burners. Only because i scan slides, negatives with a Nikon and make slide shows for people. If your making 50 copies or so i can burn 4 at a time and get er done.
two will be half the time. convenient.
Normally there is no particular reason to have two drives other than already stated. I always have two in mine because I keep an old drive installed in case the newer drive will not read old disks.
the older drives ive never seen it if a cd was corrupted or a dvd. Its the quality of the laser head to read all dye on the cd or dvd. some colors work better than others and only work with like purple or red. and sometime i open the cover on the burner and lightly blow out because of maybe dust. and sometime the blank cd or dvd just don't work. still all mine work though. its quality of drive mostly. thats my experience.
then again i will mail and they they can't read it.
burn another with different color dye and works just fine.
