Do I Need Permission to Use Links on My Web Site

I am thinking of putting together a web site somewhat similar to the home page on the Drudge Report, putting links directly related to the electronic equipment I'm thinking of selling, i.e. different company sites & other things related to that equipment. Do I need to ask & obtain their permission to do so, or can I just go ahead & provide the links on my homepage? Thanks for any info

As far as I have always understood, and followed... If you dont use a PIC which you didnt take... or use a quote from someone elses website. Your OK.

But, a company COULD legally still have a claim if your site is about XXX porn, and they are a christian organization.

Links are ok, as long as they dont cause harm to the other guy.

Actually, you are supposed to ask for permission, but to be honest I haven't done so yet (unless I'm trying to affiliate with someone). Most websites won't mind if you link to them though, afterall, it's free traffic to their site! :D

I'd send emails and ask for permission on sites that you're not sure about. ;)

You should be ok.. unless their site specifically designates that you dont link directly to their site... For example a download site.. most of them will not allow and will have some kind of message like "please do not link directly to this download site".. along those lines..

if you do.. they'll have other means for you to do so.. like adding their logo on your site and such.
