Hi there,

Silly question but im building* atm and my case does NOT*** have air venting on the bottom (underside) so would i place the fan on the top because it wont be doing much on the bottom?

Its a corsair hx650w

Thanks :-)

Sorry about the typos..i was exhausted from building for the first time xP

If it's a bottom mounted PSU, you CAN have it fan-up, but it'll draw hot air from inside the system rather than cold air from underneath. If you've got it sitting on carpet, I'd recommend fan-up, but otherwise, fan-down.

Thank you everyone!

My case is the antec two hundred and the psu goes at the bottom.

I forgot to check back, and have been using it with the fan up! Because i thought this must be the correct way, since there is no holes in the underside of the case for ventilation. But does it draw air in from the back of the case?

I am modding a bit for airflow today, and my air flow is coming in from the front and exiting out the back and top. I have 2 intake fans at the front of the case, and a back exhaust fan and top exhaust fan.

So im not sure if i would want air coming in from the back would i? (fan facing down).

I made some errors in my first message, sorry xP

Your help is very much appreciated!

No the fan faces downwards, so it draws cool air in from the bottom.

If there is no vent holes, wouldn't it be better if the fan was facing up?

I have an Antec 1200 which has no vent holes and I have mine facing up. The only problem is you could easily drops screws in it.

It's supposed to mount that way when there is no vent. Not a bad idea to mod it though and pop the fan through the bottom.

sorry about the crucial typo in the first message. No vent holes. Now i know to face it up tho so u still helped me just the same :-)
