Do I really need a C2D for Photoshop, Matlab and 1080p HD usage ?

Can a T4200 for example, or an Athlon x2 run Photoshop CS4, Matlab and full hd FLAWLESSLY like a T6600 for example does ??

I'm really on a tight budget.. but I don't want any crunches and stuff using this things

They'll probably have trouble running those programs flawlessly. 1MB of cache on the T4200 certainly wouldn't help.
