Do I use both or just the 512 (256MB PC2700 & 512 PC3200)

So I never play games but I like my apps to run fast, I tought if I leave both chips it slows my total RAM to 333MHZ while if I use only the 512 PC3200 it will run at 400MHZ. Because they run as fast as the slowest chip right..
I presently removed the PC2700 chip and it seems to be a tiny bit faster but it may as well be just in my head lol

Is there an utility to verify the speed your RAM is running ?
 
Yea, download and run CPU-Z. And btw, it is in your head. You will not notice a difference from PC3200 and PC2700.
 
I would put them both in and attempt to overclock the 2700. It might work, then again it might not. Depends on how good the RAM is.
 
yea, use both. id rather have 768mb of ram than 512.
memory speed doesnt matter nearly as much as cpu speed. plus, you'd need like a quad core processor for pc2700 to bottleneck the cpu.
the windows load screen depends a lot more on hard drive speed. thats why im upgrading to dual hard drives in RAID 0. (the new rig is being shipped yay! :) )
