Do ISP's have to track your online activity?

i dont know tbh,But im sure they have a way of seeing what youve been doing on your connection already.

in a way i think its a good thing because it will help track down paedophiles and people doing illegal things but there wouldnt be any privacy:)

it sounds like a roumer. i know they can look at your record. (my friend did get busted for torrenting) but i dont think they always look at everyones record. too many man hours

Well there is no way an ISP can actually log what you are transmitting over the Internet. That would take peytabytes of hard drive space to log all the data that flows into and out of your computer. They can log what IP's you connect to but not your actual traffic. So how did he get busted for torenting through ISP logs?

Last I knew, the courts need a warrant to get their hands on ISP logs... and many ISPs don't bother with logs or only keep them a couple of days or so. Depends on the ISP.
