Do the i7's really need a fast Hd to see the most benefit?

Been reading that you really need a fast rpm Hd like the Raptors or one of the 15,000 rpm types to see realize the advantage over current quads or dual setups.

Is this true?
 
Yes of course :) .Just some people are saying I7 builds arent getting the results for the I7 over the current core 2's because use of standard speed Hd.That if you use a fast Hd it will exceed a Core 2 build using the same fast Hd.
 
The thing with a faster hard drive is it really only improves loading. I could put an old 4200RPM drive in with an i7 and aside from loading windows and whatever else, you wouldn't notice a performance difference unless you run out of RAM and windows starts having to send things to the pagefile.

Having the fastest HD in the world wont make your processor faster.
