Do U.S. Computers Work in UK?

If I were to purchase a computer on an American website, would the computer work in the UK (besides the power plug)?

Thank you!

It should I think there might be a jumper setting that you have to change on the video card though if you are useing tv-out.

There's the switch on the back of the PSU to go between 120/240 volts. A few automatically switch(my old Coolermaster was suppose to) Laptops typically work with either as well.

No...

If you're going to get into video cards, there's nothing to be changed if you're using a basic monitor. If you plan to use TV-Out or some sort of capture card, the drivers will have a setting to change from NTSC(US) to PAL(UK)

Follow up question

Will I have any trouble with the DVD or CD-ROM drive?

I know you all probably don't recommend Dell, but the computer is for a kid in the UK, and I live in the US. The Dell US site is much cheaper than the UK site, so I'm wondering if I can just purchase from Dell US and send it to him without any problems.

well dells are pretty good in my opinion, as for weather a cd or dvd will work I don't know I think that a cd should be fine but the DVD is different and Is reagion specific
