do you use a mic when gaming?

I started gaming online pretty recently and it seems like it would be fun to have a mic to chat. Do you all use them?

I'm thinking of getting one, but have no idea what to get, how much to spend, etc. Any advice on that? I would want one that automatically detects your voice, and of course has decent sound quality. How much would that cost?
 
not at all. i like being the quiet guy. if i need to communicate, i just use chat using the keyboard. :P

but i do want those headphones w/ mic when i play TDU.
 
Whenever I am on the computer ill usually be logged into ventrilo. I especially cant stand playing against someone I know without being able to talk to them using voice haha.

I picked up my headset for $30. Its probably alot cheaper in the US. As far as I know the quality is fine. Its a logitech product, however, I sure would recommend sennheiser when it comes to all that quality stuff :)
 
I use a mic when playing Half Life 2 Deathmatch. Otherwise, I don't play online games. I just use the mic built into my monitor and use headphones so I don't get feedback from the speakers and it works just great.
 
I use them def better than typing so you don't have to stop playing and it's more interactive especially if it's your friends.
I use Medusa 5.1 usb surround sound headphones w/mic. I love them, I also used to have sennheiser pc155 but the cord was weak when I rolled over it. They're great too though.

I have a desk mic but I can't talk on it during games, since the noise from the speakers overpowers it. If I got it to work right though, then yes I would use it.
 
i prefer headset mics

i really prefer headset mics cuz you can hear and talk at the same time sorta ya know they may be lil more expensive then standard mics but i feel its worth it
 
Yeah, my 15$ headset and mic works like a charm
Just is uncomfortable for about the first 10 minutes and then again after about 4 hours but thats motivation to get off ;)

Looked on newegg, looks like they dont have it anymore. hmm thats a shame
 
It all depends on what game I am playing and who I am playing with. If I am playing with friends then I will use it. If I am playing a game by myself I wont. lol. :P
 
I play Counter Strike Source with friends and use a cheap headset I found on zipzoomfly for like 13 bucks. Not the best, but it works for me.
