do you use those dust cap for your USB?

Is it necessary or better to use those USB dust cap and Audio jack cap which are usually made of plastic with the laptop??

Would moisture or dust from the normal surrounding (not extreme conditions) cause problems to the functionality of USB / Audio cap or even the overall performance of the laptop??

Is laptop itself usually invulnerable to reasonable surrounding conditions??

or only under extreme cases like spilling the liquid to it with large amount or letting it fall to the ground from height would cause real problems to the laptop?


I am interested in the new model of Apple laptop (macbook with retina display) because it only has one port.
 
I'd be much more concerned with dust getting into the laptop via the vents, than the USB or audio ports. I wouldn't worry about it. Of course that's not a problem with the new MacBook, but even then I wouldn't buy those covers.
