i spilt water on it last week, and the keys were working pretty well since except for the shift keys and maybe sometimes the ctrl, so i decided to wait it out since i can still use the CAPS LOCK key to capitalize w/e letter necessary.

however, the keys are still dead.
what am i supposed to doo:confused:
please help:(

You spilt water on your keyboard and some keys died/shorted. Plain and simple, there is nothing to do but get a new keyboard. If all the water's evaporated by now and they still don't work, there is no getting them to come back to life.

what type/brand/model keyboard would you recommend?

The best boards I've ever used is a no name brand and they costs me $7 bucks, I usually buy a bunch of them and stack up every few years. Thing is they never fail. :D

That Logitech is way too expensive, unless you are an extreme gamer and can put all the fancy buttons and screens to use.

I agree with tweaker. For normal PC use, just get a cheap keyboard and keep it clean. I use a Logitech keyboard as well, it has a few hotkeys and a volume control and all that, but it was only like $30. Has lasted me a few years now...needs a good cleaning but that's it.

just keep the old one. you can take it apart and you will notice 2 transparent plastic sheets. the contacts are just dirty in-between the 2 sheets and need to be cleaned. I had experience doing this becase I dipped my keyboard in the slop sink full of warm water.

oh come on, a keyboard is the simplest device ever, just take is apart clean all teh contact with ethanol, rebuild and i'll bet it works no problem.

I suppose it is a case by case basis. If it gets into the circuit board of the keyboard I'd still vote lost cause. At least my keyboard anyways, if water got into the upper portion where my function keys are it'd be fried, there are lots of little capacitors and resistors under there. Simpler keyboards probably have only a small circuit board, so theres more of a chance of avoiding it.

R.I.P.

Get one of those that are bent. they are alot better meaning healthier and you can alot faster with it. ;)
oh and by the way. keyboard is pretty simple. I took my one apart into every tiny piece and cleaned it. Try doing that as APJ101 said, It might work and if not then get a new one.

i would recommend any cheap keyboard. there isnt much need for all that fancy junk. Why spend 80 buck on a keyboard wen u can get one for 7$?
