does a new video card realy help framerates?

im switching from a realy crappy onboard video card to a geforce 6600 and i just wanted to know if having it would realy make a big difference in framerate for say, world of warcraft or guild wars?
 
Video cards effect framerates more then any other piece of computer hardware. You will notice a significant improvement going from integrated to a 6600.
 
Lets just say I was blow away from just my crappy MX4000 64mb the first time I used it :P Almost any card will make it much better than integrated.
 
and I here you on the MX thing, im still using my MX440 and its still giving me decent frames on HL2 (medium-low settings of course) :-P...upgrading soon.
