i get this where banners should be, where adverts should be, and this is the page i get whilst trying to update my security suite!

Im running XP, with internet explorer6 and my firewall is Zone alarm.

is Zone alarm blocking your internet explorer? check in application settings.
Have you tried using a different browser (Firefox, Opera?)
 
not tried a different browser, and i can get on other websites but just not the update one!

ive tried checking the allowed lists and stuff like that but to no joy!

the update one as in the Zone Alarm update site? if it is just one site, the site could be temporarily unavailable. Check to see if the site isnt blocked by your Internet Browser.
