My main system is an IBM Aptiva 2176-C6B, shipped with, and still running, Windows 95. I have a copy of 98 ready to install, pending the answer to this question: Is there any reason why this venerable machine could not support a USB port?
IBM's answer is not terribly clear. Their online document Hardware Interfaces - Aptiva 2134, 2176 has this to say about USB:
Does this mean USB can be added to a Type A-2 board and no other? Or does it mean USB is standard equipment on that board? (My motherboard says TYPE J-1.)
My ultimate goal in this quest is to be able to upload pictures from my new digital camera. The camera documentation says the bundled CD inlcudes drivers that are needed under 98, but not under XP, NT, 2000, etc.

Universal Serial Bus. High speed serial bus designed for USB protocol. Note: USB available with System Board Type A-2 only.
