Does it exist?

Hey, it's been a long time. I am wondering does a solar powered laptop exist? I keep on hearing about these solar panels that are think as a film, did they ever consider putting them on the back of a laptop screen to power the laptop? Is it even possible with current solar technology? Came here to ask because I figured you guys would know.

Look on Metacafe or Youtube for some 'hacks' about this. I have seen vids where they took some solar panels from other devices (lamps or whatever), measured the tension and get more than one if needed to get like 4.5 volts (mobile phones) (i don't know what tension laptops need, but it should be written on the big box you connect to electricity :D), connect them in series (spelled correctly?).
Then they got the cable, cut the big "box" you connect to electricity :D, and put the solar panels instead. Then put at sunlight (or strong light) they would charge the battery from cell phone/laptop.

I have to check that out, thanks. By tension are you talking about resistance (Ohm's) in an electric circuit or something totally different? But my question was do solar panels exist that can power a laptop directly, not just power recharge the battery and does anyone major manufacture make such a laptop.

Like for example, say your battery is about to be drained and you're no where near an outlet. Can you switch to solar panels mounted on the back of the screen to power/recharge the laptop?

By tension i'm talking about voltage.

ive seen a PDA running off a solar kit (battery, panel and regulator) but that was in africa. Worked fine, but no wireless.

It'd be almost impossible to run a laptop directly off of solar power without some sort of battery in between them. Think about it, have you ever used one of those calculators with a solar panel on it? The screen quickly dies out if you cover the solar panel (assuming internal battery is dead). Imagine that with a laptop. Someone walks in front of the light source and bam you get a restart.

Why can't you use the battery in laptop as the battery between the solar panel and laptop itself?
