Does not recognize hard drive....

I hope this is in the right section. A couple of weeks ago I left the house and came back and my computer had a blank screen. I tried rebooting but nothing. I figured my video went out and replaced it and nothing. So I figured I would try my recovery disk and when I use it is gives me a message saying there is no hard drive found. I replaced the hard drive and tried the recovery disk again and still the same message. What else could it be???

this may sound stupid but double check all the connections... perhaps the connector on your motherboard is messed up. is the drive sata or ide?

have you tried multiple sata ports on your mobo? how old is your computer i'm assuming you have the correct drivers and everything because it worked at one point right? the drive doesn't even show up in bios?

It an HP media desktop....I bought it Feb 06. And no I haven't tried multiple sata ports on the mobo. I just un-plugged the power and sata from the old hard drive and plugged them into the new one. Yes it used to work great and then just quit....and NO it doesn't recognize a hard drive in bios.

I'm assuming since it doesn't show up in bios it doesn't show up if i you right click on my computer go to manage>device manager>disk drives either right

I can't get that far bro. It wouldn't boot up with the original and the new one doesn't have an OS...I was going to try and install then run my recovery disk???

do you have another machine you could plug it into as a secondary drive and try to deal with it through there so its not the boot drive?

plug either one that doesn't work into another machine and see if that machine can see it... if it can then your mobo might be messed up and if it can't then your drive is probs dead

Still no luck with this thing. I tried a new power supply and nothing so it cam only be the mobo. Ordered a new one and it should be here in 2 days. Hope this fixes the problem.
