does software register every 2 weeks?

a friend of mine was on about this early and im not sure if he was right or just making it up. so does my software register every week? do you know what i mean? thanks :confused:
 
so everyweek, say abobe reregisters my software, i dont have to go through the whole process but its to insure that there are cracks so ive heard is this ture? beacuse if it is, i dont know its happening.
 
windows xp updates itself every few weeks and any software like firefox adobe they update them selfs every few weeks aswell, whats the problem updates are good to do
