Does the Amount of Tabs You Open on Internet for Windows 7 Affect/Slow Down Internet Speed?

On Windows 7, when I go on the Internet via Chrome, I usually use/leave a bunch of tabs open. Will this affect my overall Web Browsing Speed? Specifically, if I just used one tab on the internet instead of say 8 or so tabs, will my surfing speed be faster?

If I'm downloading a file and I leave chrome open, will it slow the downloading speed? How about if I continue to surf the web while downloading, will that slow the downloading speed?

Not really, you could argue some background tabs might soak up a bit of bandwidth but your primary concern is usually RAM.
