Does the memory type matter for a graphics card?

does it matter what memory type you get in your graphics card? for example will a ddr3 type only work in a particular machine or will it work in all? thanks

The memory type doesnt matter (as the above poster said).

All that matters is that it uses the same interface that your motherboard supports, and that that your power supply can handle it.
