Does the ram order matter?

I just heard in one of the forum threads that the biggest sized RAM stick should be placed as the first and then followed by smaller or identically sized sticks. Why is that? I now have it as 256 in slot 1, 256 in slot 2 and 512 in slot 3. Thanks and I look forward to hearing from you.

On older motherboards using SIMMs the highest capacity SIMM had to go in the first but I dont think it matters on motherboards using DIMM.

I believe the only requirement is that the first slot (bank 0) is used first.

I concur... never encountered any issues with SIMM size back in the day :)
