I have a dedicated fan on the back of my dell with a large green vent goin from the fan to over the heatsink. In some ways its blocking my airflow. About half an inch above the green vent is my fan pushing air into my psu and out of my computer. at the bottom of my case i have a fan pulling air in which is obviously not reaching my heatsink because its blocked, but could be reaching if it wasnt covered. The large 120mm fan is only about 3 inches away from the heatsink so i dont think the vent really does anything. Do u think i should remove this green vent or is it good there, because i assume dell wouldnt put it there if it was bad.

The big green vent thigny is obviously there to help cool the CPU even more, what are your current CPU temps, if you take the vent thing off then what does the temp change to. I wouldnt keep it there if its blocking other fans. just get rid of it.
 
ok thanks maybe ill do a little test and take the vent off and monitor the temp for a week and monitor it on for a week and compare hte temps.

i have a dell 4700 and i have only 1 fan thats going over my cpu with the green cover and heatsink

how did you get extra fans in there there is no room :confused:
 
i have 2 in my psu that i bought, and u wont beleive it but i taped a fan to the panel that can be removed. You know where those little holes on the side ar, well i taped it there on the inside and it does a really good job of keeping it cool.

are you talking about the holes on the side panel

cause the sidepanel can be removed is that what you are talking about
 
yea there are a bunch of little holes on the removable side panel(to the left of the front) i taped a fan to that on the inside pulling air in.
 
All the new dell towers come with this green thing. It's to help control the cpu temp. That giant fan is to control just the cpu temps not the whole case. At the school I work at all the dells have that little green thing. It's good to have, leave it in. ;)
