I was planning to upgrade my pc with 64bit Vista, but all program I have is for XP 32bit.
Does XP 32bit program run in 64bit xp or 64bit Vista? If they are, aren't they have errors?

You should still be able to run your 32-bit XP programs on 64-bit Vista.

Vista has 32bit emulation built in.

32bit applications get installed in a secondary folder.

C:\Program Files (x86)

64bit applications get installed here:

C:\Program Files

This late in the game, do you think it would be considered foolish to purchase a 32 bit system if you plan on using the new computer for 3-5 years?

The only time that a 32 bit program won't run on a 64 bit OS is that the software company didn't make it to. Like a lot of the web cams that out there. When I went looking for a web cam, I made sure it will run on a 64 bit OS.
