Doesn't see blank disks

My Artec 52x32x52x16 CD burner andDVD reader does not see blank CD's to burn. I try to burn though Nero, or windows and ti says please insert a blank disk, when one is already in there.
 
Are you sure the disks are really blank? The message you are getting is typical of when the disk has already had something burned on it. I guess that would also happen, as you said, if it cannot read the disk. Try putting a disk in then Recorder / Disk Info and it will tell you if anything is on the disk.

Does the drive work at all for playback, reading data disks etc?

Does it still read other media cd/dvd's?
If not, could be the lense.

Could be the media also. Do you have other blank media available?
 
just try putting a blank disc on there a menu should pop up with available burning options if blank(or other if used)... if this fails make sure your drive does still work by putting in any disc blank or used and seing if it loads if it doesnt got to my computer and double click the cd drive.
 
I had the problem that CD-RW's were seen as CD-ROMs and could not record. CD-Rs and DVD-R/RWs were able to be used as normal. Only way to fix this was to replace the burner.
