Domain and hosting

Is godaddy.com really the best/cheapest way for domain names and hosting? I want a .com domain with relatively good, but not excellent, hosting. Probably 1 or 2 gbs bandwidth and 1 or 2 gbs file storage. What is the cheapest way to do this?

Also, i had previously created a domain with ms officelive, but that sucked, so i deleted my site. However, the site i want (www.artoonie.com) isnt available. How would i make it available/how long would it take?
 
You cant make it "avaiable" if its nto avaible then someone else already owns it. The only way to use it would be if the owner sold it to you.

http://godaddy.com has great domain's, but there hosting sucks. Don't use it.

The only way to make a domain name "available" is to make an offer to the current owner of the domain. The amount of money the owner might want could be anything, so I would suggest getting another one, maybe artoonie.net or artoonie.info.
 
Umm...microsoft owns it. The day i deleted it, its an empty page, owned by microsoft. I guess my real question is, does it take a while for the internet people to delete a website after it was owned? because i was the only owner of artoonie.com, but its a blank (not dead) page now.

And I do not like 50webs cause they have a really small max filesize limit. I want to put large flash, movie, and music files.

If GoDaddy hosting sucks, what would be better?

there are two plans of 50webs

One free plan which has 300kb file size limit and other paid hosting which doesnot have filesize limit I think

Microsoft does not own artoonie.com do a look up of it, It says its registered to a "Armin Samii" If you were the one who reigstered it, and it did not expire, then you should be able to change nameservers and still use it.

How would I change nameservers? I am armin samii btw. I tried registering it on godaddy, but it said it was unavailable or something.

That's beucase you have already registered it. Where did you orignally register the domain? You need to login there, and then ther should be a option somewhere to change the nameservers. You need to findout what your nameservers should be from whatever your host is, put those in and it should work.
 
I registered it to Microsoft Office Live Beta, but I deleted my account, and when I try logging in, it says I don't have an account. I'll try contacting them...

Edit: Yay, they have a hidden FAQ page which takes forever to find and even longer to navigate. I found the website (www.melbourneit.com.au) so hopefully they'll be able to transfer me. Thanks to all who helped =D

You should be able to transfer the domain to almost any place(including godaddy) but normally it would have to be OKed by whoever owned it before.
 
I owned it before, but microsoft said it'll take 60 days to transfer. its only been like 45 since i deleted my account with them.
