I dont know if this comes under video cards and monitors but theres no were else to put it.

Kk..Im trying to change my theme of the desktop back to the original Windows XP one because for some reason now my taskbar and start menu look fcukd up.
Everytime I click apply in the display properties windows to change it back I get an error something like this

error uxtheme.dll erron on line:#64

I dont know what to do and I really need to change it back as its not my computer please any one help.
If you can not help me with that can you tell me were I can download the original Windows XP theme and I will download object desktop 2 replace it. thx

have you tried all the basics? a full reboot? have you installed all the patches from windowsupdate.microsoft.com? installed any new software recently?

just make sure you cover your bases. if that doesn't fix it, you might try obtaining a new copy of uxtheme.dll or you might try one of those system scan programs that checks the windows registry for bad keys, etc.

hope one of these ideas helps. when you get it fixed, let us know...

Its not something wrong with my computer, its because I installed a program that enables you to change the theme of the desktop, but I forgot to make a back up of my current theme (the original xp one) so I lost it.
Now I have this cheap looking silver menu and taskbar. If I go to display properties it will allow me to change to any other theme but as soon as I click the one I want (win XP) I get the uxtheme.dll error, tried replacing the dll but to no avail.
Please help

you could try doing a system restore to before when you installed the program.

tried system restore but it says it cannot complete it, but I have restored it many times before.
I have posted the error I get when trying to load the XP theme.

btw its not the program I installed that is causing the errors because I have used it hundreds of times in the past. its called stardock (the program)

try replacing the original dll file back into the folder where it came from that should fix it.

I have published pictures of what my menu and taskbar look like. They look cheap and sliver but I cant change back. HELP ME PLZ
