Don't want puter to auto access internet

I have put back into service a computer formerly used to access the internet. I just want to use this computer for playing music. I have it hooked into an amplifier in my shop and have loaded my mp3 collection on it. It wants to automatically access the internet all the time and interrupts my tunes. I get a message saying it's unable to access the internet at this time and I get the choice to work offline. I'll close the window and it pops up again and again. This is unwanted behavior. I have no intention of connecting this puter to the internet. I'm sure there is a simple solution to my dilemma and any number of you gurus can hook me up. Any suggestions? Thank you in advance!

What Operating System are you running? Which program are you using to play musi?
I assume some version of windows for the OS?
I would try going to control panel>network connections and right clicking on your connection. Click disable and try playing music. If that doesn't work, you may need to adjust settings in which ever program you are using to play music.

Sorry I forgot to include such pertinent information. I'm running Windows XP Home edition. I'm using Windows Media Player to play the music. The unwanted internet access attempts occur before I even start up Windows media player. I get the message on bootup and several times thereafter.

try the instructions I posted above. If that doesn't work you need to find out why Windows is trying to connect to the internet. When exactly do you get the message? Where does it show up on the screen? What exactly does is say?
