do ppl still use scsi in servers?? or do they just use sata ??? is so are they any advantaged to scsi like speed or price

Yes SCSI is still in use in servers. SCSI drives are faster and the controllers are generally better than ATA controllers (they typically have their own processor and handle the IO load instead of requiring the CPU to do it). The downside is it costs a lot more.

Lol, this reminds me of when I tried to use a 10-year-old 9GB Compaq SCSI drive in my desktop with a 15-year-old PCI SCSI controller card just because the drive was 10,000rpm. It was ridiculously loud, and died in less than a year. :D

SCSI is still being used a lot.Same for the IDE.Believe it or not, here people use IDE a lot more then SATA.Why?...It's cheaper lol...
As for the speed, that is not so important unless you must be transfering data all the time and you have a date on which you must transfer tons of GB in one day lol...

I still use IDE and if I want to connect SATA to motherboard that supports only SATA,you can always use IDE to SATA converter or even reverse if you want to use IDE drives in the motherboard that supports only SATA.In that case you will use SATA to IDE converter.

I am so glad that we have these converters...they saved my life because I have few nice Seagate SATA drives and my motherboard only supports IDE/PATA.
