Double Down on RAM?

Well as you can see from the specs in my sig, my system's now a little dated. I'm trying to keep it fairly current with regular upgrades. Question is - Would I benefit in any way from a RAM upgrade of 6 to 12 GB?

How much ram usage are you using now? If using more than 80 percent then you should get more. What do you use your system for?

I rip music and movies, light/moderate level image manipulation, play Smite with my son, RealFlight 6.5 (RC airplane trainer - fairly demanding on GPU), plus the mundane things we all do. How can I check usage in a particular application?

It doesn't seem like you would need more ram, but I would check how much you're using when you're doing all those things at once. To check, open task manager and there should be a status bar that says "Memory", and it will tell you the percentage used, and how much each application is using. This is how it is on windows 8, not sure about windows 7, but it should be the same.

As above, if it's not above 80% or so then you wouldn't see too much of a difference.

Thanks for replies. It's actually hard to get it much over 50%. Guess I'll try to find a better use for the $.
