Hi everyone, I thank in advance anyone who will offer me his time and expertise to try to solve my problem!
I have a very weird doubling of files & folders on my desktop.
It stared with an extra folder, named "DESKTOP", located on my desktop, and which contained exactly the same files & folders of my desktop. Also the physical free space on my HDD was reduced by that same amount. This anomaly started when I was fiddling with shared folders. I could not rename, delete or move this folder nor the files and folders in it. I use Win XP (SP3) and I run a virus free computer (checked again and again).
In another forum I was reccommended to use an "unlocker" software. I did. First I copied everything on a USB SSD and then, with this "unlocker", I managed to delete all my desktop files and folders, including the very weird one called "desktop".
However, when I copied my files back on my desktop they automatically doubled! Now, every file and every folder, which I create or save on my desktop, is immediately replicated with an identical copy. I still cannot delete these copies but I can move and rename them. However moving and renaming is automatically executed to the "twin" file/folder.
Please HELP!!!
Thanks you,
Tommaso
