Double Video Card - SLI

How much of a performance increase can you expect with dual 7800 GTX's on 2 GB of RAM on DDR3 and an AMD Athlon 4000+.. just wondering. :P

i don't think it is worth it to have Dual 7800's. the 7800 is the best for a reason, you don't need 2

So increasing the CPU is more important that the video card when it comes to gaming increase? I thought it was the other way around.

well i think SLI has like a 25% increase but with new cards coming out, one single card will be better than having a SLI of the previous gen card. also you wouldnt really notice the difference between the 2. for example will you notice the difference between 60fps and 100fps?

Yeah.. that little number that says "FPS:xx" will change. No, I probably wouldn't.. as long as it runs smooth, I could give two shits.

If you´ll play with really great resolution then yes get dual 7800GTX´s....
otherwise pick that 7800GTX 512... Or wait a bit untill that 7900TG/X comes out..

2 7800GTX is much better than one x1900xtx

anyway u will see a big improvement with dual 7800 GTX, gives about 50% performance gain over a single card

There are some real differences, some losses, most gain in FEAR and Quake 4.

don't be stuped, there will be no losses with SLI, the games in that link u posted was not tested on very high setting, u will just see the difference between SLI and single card when u run any game on very high resolution, the sli doesn't increase the framerates, but it helps the game not to loose framerates/sec. all games in this benchmarks in the link u posted are scoring above 80fps (and u will never see difference between 60fps or anything above) , and in most of the games the single card beats the dual cards, but if u turn the resolution of any game to higher resolution, u will see that the SLi cards will not drop alot in FPS but the single cards FPS will drop alot and they will become much less than SLi cards

the 7800 isnt the best.

You would be much better off getting one video card and a dual core system. I would get the ATI x1900XTX and a AMD X2 4800+.

i think what hes saying is that having one 7800gtx will do him good enough and my answer is:
it won't.
if your monitor supports 16x12, then you'll definitely want two. this way you can also use newer technologies like 16x AA and such... for instance, i can run quake 4 ultra quality 16x12 with my 7800gt (overclocked) just fine but when i put AA up to 8x it starts lagging some. its really annoying, and its a good thing i got an sli mobo because im gonna want to either add one, or get two newer cards in a few years.

SLI normally gets a 30%-70% increase in performance, depending on the game. (the higher the quality, the better the increase normally)
but, a single 7800gtx will last you quite some time either way.
