Download directly into another folder?

I did a search in the forums, and I couldn't find anything specific on google either, so I'm going to ask something very nooby. When you download a file online, it automatically goes into your download folder, unless its like a jpg, in which situation it would go directly into the picture folder in library. So how can I do that with avi, mp4 files to video folder? I have a feeling I've done it before but I don't remember. -__- thanks for the help, and if there is another thread with this solved already, then my apologies, I couldn't find it.

I use the newest of firefox. And I know to do it manually, I just want to avoid it. Ill check addons but I thought there was a way to change it from a settings window?

Should be able to create a directory like download. might be a d: drive.
Goto options and point to where you want all downloads to take place.
Its likely there.

^^ Exactly right. You can select (browse) which folder you would like to put all your downloads in. It's in the options menu.

That's not what he's asking for guys. He wants specific files types to automatically save to a specific folder (Videos in a video folder, JPG in a picture folder, etc.)

I read it again. Not much difference though. Video folder maybe. Like your concept and never seen anything to implement and know the difference. Would be interesting if it exist though.
I have documents, pictures, movies from email etc. Wish it was smart enough to put in the proper folder. Like that idea. Haven't seen it yet and likely not in the future. Smart download would be nice.
you could sell me on it.

best i come up with. Have a directory on the secondary d: drive. Pictures, movies from email, documents for business called personal. those directorys are there in download.
I also have secondary drive on the primary. Same directorys. i go into the download directorys and move accordingly then I sync the drives for duplication. Whats in one goes in the other. Im using Windows 7 Pro 64 bit. the option is there.
Might want to investigate briefcase for options and sync if available on your operating system. Just another thought.
And adventure............again.

I always use the option that it ask me every time where I want to save it rather than letting the software to do it automatically so that later I don't have to search for it :D

My advice to you is to make a special folder JUST for your downloads and then in the browser options configure to point ALL downloads to that special folder for your downloads.

Maybe I will make a simple applicaton to save specified file types each into it's own folder just like you want once I finish my current UAC project. But I can't promise you anything of course.I am lazy as hell sometimes.:D
