.well I dont think a download manager is only about speed. I use getright too and I have seen the diff between it and not using any, getright is faster, when it segments the file it sppeds it up a little, since when it segments it, each segment is being downloaded as another file
They still need to go from the outside world through to your computer and thus bottlenecked...Does this work on the same principle as kazaa and e-donkey
They split the files into pieces.
Ahh good point about that, a lot of gamesites limit you to 100K or 200K per connection.... a limited counterexample but one nonetheless. To qualify, I meant about aggregate speed off a stable server (say Microsoft or Symantec) that doesnt throttle you. I dont know exactly how the throttling systems work but thats not a "base condition" to test by as you are already pre-crippled.Not exactly, they just make multiple connections to the server. I have DSL, and I have found that if I download a large file, like a game demo, the download manager will make 3 connections, all at 50K to give me a speed of 150K, triple what I would get just by using by browser
Um for proper rearranging the segments have to be from the same server.well I think it does, as it has been said each segment is downloaded by another mirror location of the file.
Got a link to this proof? Like i mean it IS doable but doing so would be in extremely limited cases (i.e., specially configured mirros that would no longer be normal-public accessble properly anymore)well about the segments and rearanging thing, well that's what i c in getright, each segment is shown to be taken from a specific mirror so dunno.....
